Temporary Heating Solutions

Temporary Heating Solutions

Where more than a single hired boiler is needed to keep a building warm during a full plant replacement, extended works or an unplanned failure, ComGas can assess your site and co-ordinate a broader interim heating strategy alongside the main project. Scope and availability depend on survey and the arrangements confirmed at the time.

  • Site survey before any arrangement
  • Co-ordinated with your wider project
  • Installed by Gas Safe registered engineers
  • Scope confirmed before work begins
Interim heating, considered as a project in its own right

Some situations need more than one hired boiler.

A single temporary boiler is often enough to bridge a short gap. But where a building is undergoing a full plant replacement, a longer refurbishment, or has lost heating across multiple zones or buildings, the interim arrangement needs to be considered as a project of its own — covering distribution around the site, connection points, and how the temporary provision will be phased alongside the main works.

ComGas can assess a site facing this kind of situation, discuss what interim heating strategy may be achievable, and co-ordinate the temporary arrangement alongside a planned boiler or plant replacement project. As with a single temporary boiler, we do not operate our own hire fleet and do not guarantee stock, a fixed delivery timescale or continuity of supply — what is achievable depends on a site assessment and the arrangements confirmed at the time.

Assessing the scale of heating loss across the building or site, and how it relates to the timescale of the main boiler or plant project.

  • Assessment across multiple zones or buildings where relevant
  • Consideration of the main project timescale
  • Review of distribution and connection points
  • Recommendation given based on what is found

Planned. Professional. Practical.

What we consider before proposing a strategy

The right interim approach depends on the scale of the project.

Before proposing anything, we look at how much of the building or site is affected, how long the main project is expected to take, what distribution and connection points exist, and where interim provision could realistically be sited without disrupting the main works. Where the main project is being delivered in phases, the interim heating strategy is considered alongside that phasing rather than as a single fixed arrangement.

This assessment shapes what is proposed and how it is phased. As with any interim arrangement, we explain honestly what is achievable for the specific project rather than assuming a standard solution will fit every situation.

  • Scale of heating loss assessed across the site
  • Main project timescale and phasing considered
  • Distribution and connection points reviewed
  • Practical siting options identified for interim provision
  • Access and safety considerations reviewed alongside the main works
  • Recommendation explained clearly before proceeding

Scope and availability — set out honestly

A broader interim strategy still depends on what can be confirmed at the time.

As with a single temporary boiler, ComGas does not own a hire fleet and does not have an exclusive arrangement with a single hire provider. What interim heating provision can be arranged for a larger project, and how it is phased, depends on a site assessment and on the arrangements that can be confirmed once the requirement is understood. We set this out clearly so it can be planned around realistically, alongside the main project timescale.

  • No hire fleet is owned or guaranteed by ComGas
  • No single exclusive hire-partner arrangement is assumed
  • Interim provision confirmed by assessment, not promised in advance
  • Phasing agreed alongside the main project programme
  • Continuity depends on what has actually been arranged
  • Clear scope agreed with you before work proceeds
Discuss Your Situation

Scope, specification and availability for a temporary heating solution are confirmed following a site assessment and depend on what can be arranged at the time. No delivery timescale, stock level or continuity of supply is guaranteed in advance of that assessment.

Temporary heating solutions FAQs

Questions about interim commercial heating strategies

Common questions about how ComGas assesses and co-ordinates broader interim heating provision.

Talk to the team about interim heating
How is this different from a single temporary boiler?

A single temporary boiler, covered on our Temporary Boiler Hire page, suits a straightforward gap in provision. This page covers a broader interim heating strategy — needed where more of the building or site is affected, or where the interim arrangement needs to be phased alongside a longer plant replacement project.

Can you provide interim heating across multiple zones or buildings?

We can assess the scale of heating loss across a site and discuss what interim strategy may be achievable, including how any provision would be distributed. What can actually be arranged depends on the site assessment and the connections and access available.

Do you guarantee a fixed timescale for interim heating provision?

No. As with a single temporary boiler, we do not promise a fixed delivery or continuity guarantee in advance. What is achievable, and how it can be phased, is confirmed once we have assessed your site and the wider project timescale.

Can interim heating be phased alongside a plant replacement project?

Yes. Where a main boiler or plant replacement project is being delivered in stages, the interim heating strategy is planned alongside that phasing, rather than treated as a single fixed arrangement for the whole project duration.

What happens once the main heating project is complete?

The interim arrangement is removed and normal operation is handed back to the permanent installation, co-ordinated with the team delivering the main boiler or plant replacement project.
