Commercial Plumbing Services

One team across the whole commercial plumbing scope

Commercial plumbing is several distinct systems, working together.

A commercial building rarely has a single plumbing "system" — it has hot water storage and distribution, cold water services, the pumps that keep water moving where gravity or mains pressure cannot, and the pipework that ties all of it together and eventually needs draining, altering or replacing. Treating each of these as a properly scoped piece of work, rather than one generic call-out, is what keeps a commercial plumbing installation reliable over the years it is in service.

ComGas provides commercial plumbing contractor services for offices, schools, retail developments, care and residential settings and other commercial buildings across Surrey and surrounding counties, working alongside our commercial gas and commercial heating services where a project spans more than one discipline. Every piece of plumbing work starts with a survey of the existing installation, so what we specify and install is based on your actual building and equipment, not a standard assumption.

This hub introduces our commercial plumbing contractor service and the specific plumbing disciplines with a dedicated page so far — hot water systems and pump installations. Pipework installations, cold water systems, booster sets, break tanks, water treatment, chlorination, commercial drainage and leak detection are all part of the wider commercial plumbing scope we cover; ask us about any of these and we will confirm how it is scoped and delivered even where it does not yet have its own dedicated page here.

How we scope a commercial plumbing project

Survey, specify, coordinate, install — in that order.

Every commercial plumbing project starts with a survey of the existing installation, whatever the scale. We look at what is already there, what condition it is in, and what the building actually needs, before specifying pipework routes, pump sizing or hot and cold water arrangements. Where a client's own consultant has already produced a design or specification, our role is to coordinate installation against it; where no separate design exists, we work within the scope you agree with us rather than assuming an open-ended design brief.

Installation is sequenced around your operations, whether that means working outside school hours, around retail trading, or within an agreed shutdown window for a plant room. Once complete, we confirm what has been installed and agree any ongoing maintenance arrangement separately, so plumbing work is never left as a loose end after handover.

  • Survey of the existing installation before any specification
  • Coordination with your consultant's design where one exists
  • Work sequenced around occupied or operational buildings
  • Coordinated with commercial gas and heating projects
  • Findings and completed scope confirmed on handover
  • Maintenance arrangements discussed separately from installation

Commercial plumbing FAQs

Questions about our commercial plumbing services

Common questions about scope, coordination and what to expect from a commercial plumbing project.

Talk to the commercial plumbing team
Do you cover plumbing disciplines that don't have their own page yet?

Yes. This hub currently has dedicated pages for our commercial plumbing contractor overview, hot water systems and pump installations. Pipework installations, cold water systems, booster sets, break tanks, water treatment, chlorination, commercial drainage and leak detection are all part of our wider commercial plumbing scope — get in touch and we can confirm how your specific requirement is scoped.

Can you coordinate plumbing work alongside commercial gas or heating projects?

Yes. Many commercial plumbing projects sit alongside gas or heating work — a new water heater, a plant room upgrade, or a wider refurbishment — and we coordinate the plumbing scope with those projects so pipework, connections and sequencing line up correctly.

Do you design our plumbing system, or work to an existing design?

Both are possible. Where your own consultant has already produced a design, we coordinate installation against it. Where there is no separate design, we survey the site and specify pipework, pumps and hot or cold water arrangements within the scope you agree with us before work begins.

Do you work in occupied buildings such as schools or offices?

Yes, this is common. We discuss access, working hours and any specific operational constraints before agreeing a programme, and sequence plumbing work to minimise disruption where a building remains in use.

What happens before we receive a quotation?

We survey the existing installation and discuss what you need before any quotation is issued, so the price reflects your actual building and equipment rather than a generic assumption.

Can commercial plumbing work be arranged as an ongoing service, not just a one-off project?

Yes. Alongside individual plumbing projects, we can discuss an ongoing maintenance or service arrangement for plumbing systems as part of a wider commercial maintenance programme — see our Service & Maintenance page for how that works.
