What CHAS accreditation means
Health and safety, independently assessed.
CHAS is a contractor assessment scheme used by clients to check that a supplier’s health and safety arrangements have been independently reviewed before work is awarded. Local authorities, schools, housing providers and facilities teams commonly ask for it at pre-qualification.
ComGas Services UK Ltd is CHAS member 168847. Our CHAS certificate confirms that we have demonstrated compliance with the CHAS standards in line with the SSIP Core Criteria and UK health and safety legislation, and that we are SSIP Approved as a contractor under CDM. The full SSIP Core Criteria assessment was carried out by PQS and is recognised by CHAS, so clients can rely on it rather than repeating the same checks for every contract.
To check it independently, search for Comgas Services UK Ltd on the SSIP Portal, where CHAS directs anyone validating its certificates. Clients with a CHAS client account can also check our membership through it, and anyone can ask us for a copy of the current certificate.

Search for Comgas Services UK Ltd on the SSIP Portal, where CHAS directs anyone validating its certificates. The record shows our SSIP Approved: Contractor (CDM) status and its expiry date. If your organisation uses CHAS as a client, you can also check membership 168847 through your CHAS account, or ask us for a copy of the current certificate.
Is CHAS the same as Gas Safe registration?
No. CHAS assesses health and safety management across the business. Gas Safe registration is the legal requirement for anyone carrying out gas work. ComGas holds both, along with OFTEC and REFCOM F-Gas registration for oil and refrigerant work.
Can you provide health and safety documents for a specific project?
Yes. Risk assessments and method statements are prepared for the specific work and site, in addition to our CHAS accreditation.
