A leak, a burst pipe, a blockage, or no water at all — we diagnose and repair the fault, and make good afterwards. If you're dealing with a leak right now, find your stopcock and turn it off before anything else. Covering Farnham, Guildford, Godalming, Farnborough, Fleet and Camberley.
Find the main stopcock and turn it off — this is usually under the kitchen sink, though it can be elsewhere in older properties. Turning off the stopcock stops water reaching the leak, which limits the damage it can cause. If the leak is coming from a specific appliance or fitting with its own isolation valve, such as a washing machine or a toilet, isolating that valve alone may be enough. Open a downstairs cold tap afterwards to relieve pressure in the system, and mop up or contain standing water where you safely can, particularly near electrical sockets or fittings.
This page covers plumbing faults that need attention now — something has failed, and water, drainage or supply is affected as a result. That includes leaks, burst pipes, blockages, dripping or seized valves, failed flexible connectors, an overflowing cistern, loss of water or pressure, and frozen pipes. If you're planning new plumbing work rather than dealing with a current fault, that's covered on our Residential Plumbing page instead.

Common plumbing faults
Diagnosed and repaired, not just patched.
From a dripping valve to a burst pipe affecting the whole property, we isolate the fault, find the actual cause, and make good once the repair is complete.
Leaks & Burst Pipes
A joint failure, a split pipe from freezing, or corrosion in an older copper run — we isolate the leak and repair or replace the affected section.
Leaking or burst pipe from a joint failure, freeze split or corrosion
Failed flexible connector under sinks, behind washing machines or at toilet connections
Dripping or seized tap and valve — worn washers, cartridges or seized spindles
Frozen pipe thawed and checked for a split before it's left in use
From a slow-draining sink to a blocked external drain affecting the whole property, we clear the blockage using the method appropriate to its location and severity.
Blocked or slow-draining sink, bath or shower
Blocked external drain affecting the property
Overflowing cistern from a failed ballcock, float or fill valve
No water at all is often a supply-side issue, a failed stopcock, or a burst affecting the whole property. A drop in pressure often points to a developing leak elsewhere in the system.
No water at all to the property
Loss of pressure from a developing leak
Failed stopcock or isolation valve
Whole-property burst affecting the incoming supply
We isolate the fault first, then find the actual cause rather than only treating the visible symptom, and agree the repair with you before any work starts.
Fault isolated first, so the damage stops getting worse
Actual cause identified, not just the visible symptom
Repair explained and agreed with you before work starts
Disturbed flooring, walls or fittings made good to a tidy, safe standard
Water damage can extend beyond the plumbing fault itself.
Standing water and damp from a leak can affect flooring, ceilings and decoration beyond the plumbing fault itself. Once the repair is complete, we'll tell you plainly what damage we've seen so you can assess whether further remedial work, or a conversation with your insurer, is needed — that assessment sits outside our plumbing repair, but we won't leave you guessing about what we've found.
Blockages range from a slow-draining sink caused by a local build-up to a blocked external drain affecting an entire property. We clear the blockage using the method appropriate to its location and severity, and where a blockage is a recurring problem rather than a one-off, we'll explain what's likely causing it to keep happening.
Clear explanation of what's caused the fault, not just the visible symptom
Repairs agreed with you before any work starts
Disturbed flooring, walls or fittings made good as part of the same visit wherever practical
Recurring blockages diagnosed rather than only cleared

Matt from ComGas Services UK Ltd was very professional, polite, friendly and quick installing a new shower in my bath (and at a better height for me) and a much easier press-in plug for my sink! He left the place spotless. This is the kind of service and installation people dream about - a 5 star service (see photos).

I have used Comgas twice and both times have been very happy with the service. Very friendly and honest. The most recent time, the job turned out to be a lot bigger than they initially thought but it was no issue and Paul stayed the extra time to make sure the job was done properly! He was really tidy, took a lot of care with the work that was done and took the time to explain what he was doing and why. Pleased to have found a reliable heating company!

Fantastic experience from the chaps at ComGas! Special thanks to Matt who removed an old boiler and replaced with a new energy efficient to satisfy the demands of a five bed house with a few bathrooms/baths and showers. The ComGas admin team and Lee were fantastic too on the booking and administration side of things!

Here at St Joseph's we have worked with Comgas for a number of years. They have completed big projects and undertake regular maintenance for our school. They price fairly, and their work is completed to a very high standard. All the engineers carry a DBS which makes life so much easier when trying to book an engineer visit.
On the rare occasion that we have an emergency I can trust that Lee will get one of his engineers to respond quickly and efficiently.
Nothing is too much trouble and no job is too small.

Plumbing repair questions
Frequently asked questions.
If you're dealing with a leak or burst pipe right now, find your stopcock and turn it off before anything else, then call us.
What's the first thing I should do if I find a leak?
Find the main stopcock — usually under the kitchen sink — and turn it off to stop water reaching the leak. If the leak is from a specific appliance or fitting with its own isolation valve, closing that alone may be enough. Then call us.
Where is my stopcock if I don't know?
Most commonly under the kitchen sink, but it can be in a utility room, cellar, garage, or under stairs in older properties. If you genuinely can't locate it, call us and we'll talk you through likely locations for your type of property.
My pipes have frozen — what should I do?
Turn off the stopcock if you suspect the pipe may have split, since a frozen pipe often leaks once it thaws. Don't apply direct heat to a frozen section yourself if you're unsure where it runs, as this can cause a hidden split to fail suddenly. Call us to assess and thaw it safely.
Will you need to open up my wall or floor to fix a leak?
Only if that's genuinely where the fault is. We isolate and investigate before deciding, and we'll explain clearly if access work is needed before we start, rather than opening things up unnecessarily.
Do you make good after a repair, or just fix the leak?
We make good what we've disturbed to access the fault, to a tidy and safe standard, as part of the same visit wherever practical. Where further work such as redecoration is needed beyond the plumbing repair, we'll tell you plainly what that involves.
Is this the same service as your residential plumbing installation?
No. This page covers urgent faults — leaks, bursts, blockages, no water. Planned plumbing work, such as a new bathroom, kitchen or upgraded pipework, is covered on our Residential Plumbing page.
My cistern keeps overflowing — is that urgent?
It's worth having looked at promptly, since a continuously overflowing cistern wastes water and can indicate a failed float or fill valve that may fail further. It's not usually a property emergency in the way a burst pipe is, but it shouldn't be left indefinitely.
