We start by measuring what is actually there — lux levels, uniformity, fitting condition and existing circuits — rather than assuming an LED swap is automatically an improvement. The design stage matches the scheme to how the space is used: task lighting for a workstation is a different problem from general illumination for a warehouse aisle or a corridor, and colour temperature, CRI and glare limits are specified accordingly. Where controls are proposed, we agree the zoning and scheduling logic with you before installation, so the building operates the way you expect from day one.
Installation is phased around how the building operates — room by room, out of hours, or during school holidays — so a relighting scheme does not force premises to close. Old fittings, lamps and fluorescent tubes are removed and disposed of correctly, including as hazardous waste where required. Once installed, we verify light levels against the design intent before handover, and commission any controls so presence detection, daylight dimming and scene settings behave as specified rather than being left on default configuration.
A relighting scheme rarely starts with a blank ceiling. Existing wiring, circuit capacity and ceiling type all affect whether retrofit or full luminaire replacement is the right route, and access equipment needs planning in occupied spaces such as classrooms, offices or care settings. It depends on the condition and age of the existing fitting. Retrofit lamps or tubes can be a sensible, lower-disruption option where fittings are sound, but if fittings are old, damaged or poorly suited to the space, a full luminaire replacement usually gives a better and more reliable result. We assess this honestly before specifying either route.
