Farnham Rugby Club, Farnham, Surrey – clubhouse central heating boiler replacement, bar refrigeration, plumbing repairs, and drainage investigation and blockage clearance.
ComGas Services UK Ltd provides building-services support at Farnham Rugby Club alongside its sponsorship of the club. A volunteer-run clubhouse of this size carries the same building services as any commercial venue: heating that has to work through a winter season, hot water for the changing rooms, refrigeration behind the bar, and drainage serving public WCs. The work has been carried out progressively as the club has needed it, rather than as a single contract.
Scope of works
- Replacement of the clubhouse central heating boilers.
- Replacement of the beer chiller serving the clubhouse bar.
- Plumbing and general building-services repairs around the clubhouse.
- Drainage investigation and blockage clearance across the site.
- Continuing maintenance and reactive support.
Clubhouse heating and bar refrigeration
The most significant work has been the replacement of the clubhouse central heating boilers, which serve the changing rooms, function space and bar areas from the same plant. Heating a building of this kind is a commercial heating requirement rather than a domestic one, and the boilers were dealt with first because they carry the most operational risk for the club through the playing season.
ComGas has also replaced the beer chiller serving the clubhouse bar, and has carried out plumbing and general repairs around the building alongside the larger items.
Drainage investigation and blockage clearance
ComGas was also called upon to investigate drainage problems affecting the clubhouse facilities after a significant blockage was reported.
The issue was not confined to a single WC or drainage point, so the system was worked through progressively. Inspection chambers around the site were opened and the drainage runs were checked in sections to identify and clear the restrictions.

Multiple substantial blockages were removed from the system before the affected WCs and drainage points were tested and returned to normal operation.

Drain clearance of this kind sits within the commercial plumbing scope ComGas covers, alongside pipework, hot and cold water services and leak detection.
Wider building-services support
The works are another example of the wider support ComGas provides at Farnham Rugby Club — dealing not only with heating and plant, but also the plumbing, drainage and day-to-day building-services issues required to keep an operational clubhouse running. That combination of planned replacement and reactive callouts is the same service and maintenance support ComGas provides to its commercial clients.
ComGas continues as the club’s fixture sponsor for a second season. Read the sponsorship announcement.
