ComGas Services UK Ltd has renewed its sponsorship of Farnham Rugby Club for a second season, continuing a partnership that has already delivered practical improvements to the club’s facilities.
ComGas is a mechanical, electrical and building services contractor based in Farnham, and was announced as the club’s fixture sponsor in September 2025. A year on, the arrangement has gone well beyond a name on a board. ComGas engineers have replaced the clubhouse central heating boilers and the beer chiller serving the bar, cleared blocked drainage across the site, and completed a programme of further repairs around the building.
More than a name on a board
When the sponsorship was first announced, both the club and ComGas were clear that they wanted a working partnership rather than a straightforward advertising arrangement. The stated intention was to keep the clubhouse and surrounding facilities in good condition — and to put a plan in place to make that happen.
That is the part of the agreement that has mattered most. A volunteer-run club has the same building services as any commercial venue: heating that has to work through a winter season, hot water for the changing rooms, a bar that has to hold temperature on a busy match day, and a building that needs looking after. Those systems are exactly what ComGas works on every day.

Boiler replacement and repairs at the clubhouse
The most significant work has been the replacement of the clubhouse central heating boilers. Heating a clubhouse of this size is a genuine commercial heating requirement rather than a domestic one, with changing rooms, function space and bar areas all served from the same plant. Replacing ageing boilers improves reliability through the playing season and reduces the risk of a breakdown at the worst possible moment.
ComGas has also replaced the beer chiller serving the clubhouse bar — the sort of equipment a busy bar cannot operate without. Alongside these two projects, the team has carried out a range of smaller repairs and maintenance tasks around the building.
Taken together, the work reflects how ComGas approaches maintenance generally: deal with the systems that carry the most operational risk first, then work through the smaller items as planned maintenance rather than waiting for each one to become urgent.
Clearing blocked drains across the site
Not all of the work has been heating and refrigeration. ComGas was also asked to deal with a substantial blockage in the club’s drainage, and on investigation the problem turned out not to be confined to one place. The team opened up the inspection chambers around the clubhouse, worked through the system in sections, and cleared multiple blockages across the site.
Blocked drainage in a building of this kind is more disruptive than it first appears. Changing rooms, bar areas and public WCs all discharge into the same underground system, so a single blockage can put facilities out of use on a match day. Clearing the whole system rather than only the blockage that had been reported leaves the club far less likely to face a repeat.
The WCs were left running normally and the drainage was left clear throughout. Drain clearance of this kind sits within the wider commercial plumbing scope ComGas covers, alongside pipework, hot and cold water services and leak detection.
Supporting grassroots sport in Farnham
ComGas works throughout Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire, but the company’s own base is in Farnham, so supporting a club at the centre of local sport is a natural fit. Farnham Rugby Club runs teams across a wide range of age groups and depends heavily on volunteers and on the local businesses that back it.
Local sponsorship works best when both sides get something genuinely useful from it. The club gets facilities that are properly maintained by an engineering contractor that knows the building. ComGas gets to support something that matters in the town it works from.
Continuing into the new season
With the sponsorship renewed, ComGas will continue as the club’s fixture sponsor, with the ComGas name appearing on the next-match board at the ground. Work on the facilities will carry on alongside it, with further improvements planned as the season progresses.
