Domestic rewires, consumer unit upgrades, new circuits, EICRs and electrical fault finding for homeowners and landlords across Farnham, Surrey and the surrounding area — delivered by the ComGas residential team alongside our gas, heating and plumbing services. For commercial and industrial electrical work, please see our Electrical Installation page.
Safe, practical home electrical services — not a one-size commercial approach.
Residential electrical work demands a different approach from commercial or industrial installations. Consumer unit upgrades, domestic rewires, ring-circuit additions and landlord EICRs are governed by the same regulations, but the context — an occupied home, a rented property, an extension in progress or a renovation — shapes how we approach the job, what we recommend and how we explain the findings.
At ComGas, residential electrical work sits alongside our gas, heating and plumbing teams. Whether you are updating a fuseboard, completing a full rewire, arranging a landlord electrical check or chasing down a fault, you deal with the same ComGas team who can also co-ordinate gas or plumbing work at the same property if it is needed. For commercial and industrial electrical services, see our dedicated Electrical Installation page.
ComGas Services UK Ltd Residential electrical services from Farnham, Surrey.
Home electrical services
Consumer units, rewires, electrical safety checks and fault finding for homes.
From a single circuit addition to a full rewire or landlord safety check, our residential electrical team can advise on the right approach and carry out the work to a consistent standard.
Consumer Unit Upgrades
Assessing, recommending and replacing the fuseboard or consumer unit in your home, including modern RCD and RCBO protection.
Electrical Installation Condition Reports for homeowners and landlords — a documented assessment of the wiring and installation, with findings classified and explained clearly.
EICR for owner-occupied homes
Landlord and rented-property electrical checks
Written condition report with observation classifications
Wiring that keeps pace with how your home is used today.
An older consumer unit may not offer the level of protection a modern installation requires. We assess what is in place, explain what a replacement would involve and carry out the work with minimum disruption to the household. A completion certificate is issued when the work is done.
For properties requiring a rewire — because of age, condition, a planned renovation or a change of use — we scope the work around occupancy, room-by-room access and any other trades working at the property at the same time.
Consumer unit assessment and upgrade
Modern RCD and RCBO circuit protection
Full and partial domestic rewires
Extension, loft and conversion wiring
Co-ordination with gas and plumbing works where required
Completion documentation issued on conclusion of the work
A clear picture of the electrical condition at your property.
An Electrical Installation Condition Report records the condition of the wiring and electrical system at the time of inspection. It is not an automatic schedule of remedial work — findings are classified and explained, and any required remedial work is separately scoped and quoted before anything further is authorised.
An EICR documents the condition of the installation at the time of inspection. Remedial recommendations are separately discussed and priced — not every observation requires immediate action.

Incredible service — problems fixed perfectly once again.
Lee, Paul and the team at COMGAS are fantastic. They arrived on time and got straight to work, quickly identifying the root cause of the plumbing and heating issues I was experiencing.
The problems were diagnosed swiftly, I was kept fully informed throughout, and both issues were fixed with impressive speed and precision.
Having worked in the industry for nearly 20 years, I know how rare it is to find reliable, trustworthy, and genuinely skilled professionals — let alone a team this good.
I joked about it at the time, but it’s true: I had the best shower I’ve ever had in this house after they finished the job — and I’ve lived here for 10 years!
I honestly couldn’t ask for more and can’t recommend COMGAS highly enough.

I recently used Comgas for a gas and heating service, and I couldn't be more impressed! From start to finish, their team was professional, friendly, and highly knowledgeable. They quickly identified the issue with my heating system and explained everything in detail, offering both short- and long-term solutions.
The technician was punctual and took extra care to ensure everything was running smoothly. I really appreciated their attention to detail and how they made sure to clean up after the work was completed. My home is now warm and cozy, all thanks to their expert service. I highly recommend Comgas for anyone looking for reliable, efficient, and trustworthy gas and heating professionals!

Residential electrical FAQs
Questions about home electrical services
Common questions about domestic rewires, consumer units, EICRs and fault finding for homes.
How is your residential electrical service different from your commercial work?
Our residential service focuses on domestic consumer units, ring circuits, rewires and home EICRs for homeowners and landlords. Our commercial and industrial electrical service covers distribution boards, three-phase systems and compliance installations for business premises — the two are distinct in scope and content and are described on separate pages.
Do you carry out EICRs for rented homes?
Yes. We carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports for landlords of residential properties. The report documents the condition of the installation at the time of inspection and classifies all observations; any remedial recommendations are separately discussed and quoted.
Can you rewire a home while it is occupied?
Room-by-room rewires in occupied homes are possible, though the timeline and access arrangements need to be planned carefully. We discuss occupancy, access constraints and likely disruption at the survey stage before confirming a programme.
What is included in a consumer unit upgrade?
A consumer unit replacement typically involves removing the existing fuseboard, installing a modern unit with appropriate RCD or RCBO protection, reconnecting the circuits, testing the installation and issuing the relevant completion certificate. The exact scope depends on what is already in place; we assess this before quoting.
Can residential electrical work be co-ordinated with other ComGas home services?
Yes. The residential electrical team works alongside our gas, heating and plumbing teams. Where electrical and heating or plumbing work is happening at the same property, we can co-ordinate access and scheduling so you are not managing separate contractors.
Planning home electrical work or need an electrical safety check?
Tell us about the property, what you need and any access or occupancy constraints. The team can advise on the right approach and arrange a survey where appropriate.
