Project Overview
Loseley Fields Primary School, Godalming, Surrey – Heating System Refurbishment including LTHW heating distribution upgrades, radiator replacements, plantroom improvements and new heating controls installation delivered for Learning Partners Academy Trust.
Comgas Services UK Ltd were appointed to undertake the refurbishment and upgrade of the heating system at Loseley Fields Primary School. The project was designed to improve the reliability, efficiency and control of the school’s heating infrastructure while ensuring minimal disruption within a live educational environment. The works involved a complete upgrade of the low temperature hot water (LTHW) heating distribution system together with improvements to plantroom equipment and heating controls.
Scope of Works
- Careful strip-out and disposal of redundant heating pipework and equipment.
- Installation of new low temperature hot water (LTHW) heating distribution pipework throughout the school.
- Supply and installation of new radiators and associated control valves across classrooms and teaching areas.
- Upgrades and modifications within the existing plantroom to accommodate the new heating system.
- Installation of modern heating controls to improve system efficiency, zoning and temperature management.
- Associated electrical works completed to support plant, pumps and controls installation.
- Pipework insulation installed to improve system performance and energy efficiency.
- Full system flushing, water treatment and commissioning carried out prior to handover.
- Final making good works including boxing-in, decoration and full site clean prior to completion.
Project Delivery
The works were delivered through a carefully managed programme that aligned with the operational requirements of the school. Activities were phased across classrooms, corridors and plant areas to minimise disruption to teaching environments while maintaining safe access throughout the site. Regular coordination and progress monitoring ensured the works remained aligned with programme objectives and quality standards.
Health & Safety
Working within a live school environment required strict adherence to health and safety procedures. Comprehensive risk assessments and method statements were implemented for all activities, supported by site inductions and controlled work areas. Additional coordination with school staff ensured that all works were carried out safely while protecting pupils, staff and visitors.
Outcome
The project was successfully completed and handed over with full testing, commissioning and operational documentation. The upgraded heating system now provides improved efficiency, reliability and controllability across the school, supporting a comfortable learning environment for pupils and staff.
